GT vs CSK | Chennai Super Kings end IPL 2025 with clinical win over table toppers Gujarat Titans

Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by 83 runs to end their IPL 2025 campaign on a high in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Devon Conway and Dewald Brevis starred with the bat with contrasting half-centuries while Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj picked up three wickets apiece in CSK’s comprehensive win.
Opting to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Chennai Super Kings got off to an aggressive start with Ayush Mhatre hitting three sixes and two fours in the second over of the innings bowled by Arshad Khan. Though Ayush was dismissed in the fourth over, the visitors powered to 68/1 at the end of the powerplay. CSK continued their fast start with Devon Conway and Urvil Patel adding 63 runs for the second wicket in just 34 balls to take the side past the 100-run mark. However, the home side showed signs of pulling things back with two wickets in two overs on either side of Conway’s second fifty this season. Dewald Brevis came up with a stunning onslaught with a 19-ball half-century to kill any hopes of a comeback that the home side nurtured. The South African batter was particularly severe against Mohammed Siraj smashing two sixes and a four in the penultimate over en route to his fifty. He also added 74 runs, the highest in the CSK innings, with Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket as CSK finished their innings at a formidable 230/5 in 20 overs.
In pursuit of a huge total, GT had a worst start as the in-form pair of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler along with Sherfane Rutherford were all back in the hut in the fifth over with the score reading just 30. The ever-consistent Sai Sudharsan and state mate Shahrukh Khan tried to repair the GT innings with a partnership of 55 for the fourth wicket but left-arm spinner Jadeja stepped in to prove his credentials as a partnership breaker yet again. He accounted for both batters in the same fashion, caught at point trying to go over the in-field, in his third over, 11th of the GT innings. With the top five batters dismissed and 145 runs needed in the last nine overs, the writing was on the wall for the home side. Wrist spinner Noor Ahmad cleaned up the lower middle order to bring some relief to the CSK fans, though a bit late into the season. He dismissed Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Arshad Khan during his spell of 3/21 in four overs as the home side were skittled out for 147 with nine balls to spare. Pacer Anshul Kamboj also picked up three wickets while Sudharsan was the top-scorer for GT with his 41 off 28 balls.
