EDR vs CDK Review | Money Grewal's sensational hat-trick helps Kings outmuscle Riders by 62 runs

Central Delhi Kings ended up as the table toppers with a huge 62-run win against the East Delhi Riders in the last league match of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025. Yugal Saini’s brilliant knock (52), followed by Money Grewal’s five-wicket haul (5/23) helped the Kings register a huge win.
East Delhi Riders won the toss and asked the Central Delhi Kings to bat first. The Kings faced a blow early in the fourth over at the score of just 25 runs. Kaushal Suman fell cheaply at the individual score of just nine runs off 11 balls, hitting only one four. In a quick succession after just eight runs, Aaryavir Sehwag (22 runs off 16 balls) was dismissed by Rounak Waghela in the next over of his opening partner’s dismissal. Skipper Jonty Sidhu also failed and was caught by Ashish Meena off Mayank Rawat’s delivery, scoring just two runs off six balls. However, then came a match-defining and decisive partnership of 74 runs for the third wicket between Yugal Saini and Jasvir Sehrawat. The Saini-Sehrawat duo smashed some amazing boundaries to get their team out of the pressure of early dismissals. This partnership ended with the dismissal of Yugal Saini off Rounal Waghela after scoring 52 runs off 32 runs, with five fours and two sixes. Following his dismissal, CDK lost another wicket in quick succession after just three runs when Waghela caught Aryan Rana (1) off Akhil Chaudhary’s delivery. Sahrawat’s unbeaten 37-run knock, followed by the contributions of Aditya Bhandari (13) and Simarjeet Singh (10*), helped the Kings post 155/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Waghela bowled a tight spell, conceding 17 runs in his three overs and picking up two big wickets, dismissing Sehwag and Saini.
While defending the target, CDK’s Money Grewal ran through the top and middle order of the East Delhi Riders. He dismissed four out of the top five batters of the Riders, taking their score to 24/5 in just 4.5 overs. It also included Grewal’s outstanding hat-trick in the third over when he dismissed Hardik Sharma, Shivam Tripathi, and skipper Anuj Rawat on the fourth, fifth, and sixth balls of the over. The Riders kept losing wickets at regular intervals in quick succession. Arpita Rana (17), Rounak Waghela (19), and Akhil Chaudhary (26) were the only three batters to cross the double-digit mark as an individual score. Eventually, the Riders were bundled out at the score of 93/10 in 16 overs. Grewal ended up with a sensational five-wicket haul, picking five wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs. Besides him, Gavnish Khurana also picked two wickets for 23 runs in his three overs, alongside a wicket each picked by Arun Pundir and Jonty Sidhu.
Star Kings’ bowler Money Grewal won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his exceptional match-winning performance, registering the figures of 5/23 in his quota of four overs.
