UP Yoddhas defeated Patna Pirates 34-31 in Vizag after trailing 19-13 at halftime. Defenders Sumit and Ashu Singh earned High Fives, while Gagan Gowda contributed seven raid points. Despite Ayan Lohchab’s eight first-half raid points, Yoddhas staged a strong fightback in the final 10 minutes, inflicting an All Out and sealing their second win of the season.
When the UP Yoddhas looked down and out against Patna Pirates, their defenders Sumit and Ashu Singh rose to the occasion to script a remarkable comeback and clinch a 34-31 victory at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Monday. Both defenders registered High Fives, while raider Gagan Gowda contributed seven points in a game that swung dramatically in the final stages.
The Pirates started stronger, edging ahead 7-6 in the opening 10 minutes, with young raider Ayan Lohchab leading the charge. His brilliant raids inflicted the first All Out on UP Yoddhas, helping Patna secure a 19-13 lead at halftime. By then, Ayan had already collected eight raid points, while Gowda and the Yoddhas’ defence struggled to keep pace. In the second half, Patna maintained control, extending their lead to 23-19 after 30 minutes, thanks to raids from Ankit Rana and Maninder Singh.
But the Yoddhas refused to give up. Rajput and Gowda chipped in with raids, and Sumit’s tackle on Ayan shifted momentum. The turning point came in the final 10 minutes when UP Yoddhas inflicted an All Out on Patna, levelling the score. With calm defence and smart raids, they denied Ayan his Super 10 and sealed a thrilling win.
