PAK W vs SA W second ODI preview | Pakistan look to keep series alive with improved performance

Pakistan Women will meet South Africa Women in the second ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday. The Proteas, who lead the three-match duel 1-0 after their eight-wicket win over the home side at the same venue on Tuesday, will look to seal the fate of the series at the first instance.

The visitors had a good outing in the last game, with all departments coming good during the one-sided game. The bowlers kept the scoring under check as they pulled things back in the death overs, while the batting unit did not panic after losing early wickets to complete a comfortable chase.
Tazmin Brits continued her purple run with a third century this year, taking her run tally to 472 runs from eight games at an average of 67.42. Marizanne Kapp also returned to form, scoring her first ton in 15 months, as she and Brits took the side home in a record partnership for the third wicket for South Africa Women.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will have to put up an improved batting show, especially in the crunch overs, to nurture any hopes of toppling the Proteas. The side moved at a snail’s pace in the death, with only 52 runs coming in the last 10 overs despite having wickets in hand.
However, Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin’s knocks, which carried the side to a respectable first innings total, were encouraging signs for the hosts. But the bowling came a cropper as they failed to put pressure after picking up early wickets.

Pitch and Conditions
The Gaddafi Stadium surface is expected to be flat and dry, and might play on similar lines to the first ODI on Tuesday. Batting is expected to get easier under the lights, with the evening dew also making things difficult for the spinners. Both captains may be tempted to put the opposition in and chase a target.
The start of the game may be delayed, with chances of thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon. However, the weather is expected to be clear as evening sets in, with temperatures around 26 degrees and chances of rain dwindling to 4%.
