Suryakumar Yadav gave a brilliant reply on how he handles the outside noise ahead of their first Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours fixture against arch-rivals, Pakistan. The Indian skipper answered the grilling questions in the pre-match press conference, which was held after their win against Oman.
Suryakumar Yadav gives a befitting reply to the media on how he handles the outside noise ahead of the highly anticipated Super Fours Asia Cup match against Pakistan that will be played on Sunday during the pre-match press conference.
Surya had been having a great tournament as a skipper, as his team had gone unbeaten in the league stages with three consecutive wins in a row. Though the last game saw Oman give the mighty Men in Blue a bit of a challenge, the Indian bowlers kept their nerve and secured a 21-run win against the minnows in their last group game of the tournament. Right after the match, Surya visited the Oman dressing room to sign autographs and attended a press conference where he answered some grilling questions by the reporters, which also included their upcoming game against the arch rivals.
“Close your room, switch off your phone, and sleep. Of course, it's not always possible. You meet a lot of friends, you go out to dinner. You have other players also around who like to see all these things. So it's very difficult, but then it's on you. What you want to listen to, what you want to have in your mind,” Surya said during the press conference.
“But I have been very clear with all the boys. I think it's very important. If you want to do well in this tournament and going forward, we will have to shut out a lot of noise from outside and take what is good for you. I'm not saying shut the noise completely, but take what is good for you. Someone can give you good advice as well, which can help you in the game, which can help you on the ground. So I think that is very important for me. And rest, I feel everyone is in a good space,” he concluded
The upcoming Asia Cup match will mark Surya’s 25th game as India’s T20I skipper. The 35-year-old Mumbai-born batter has win rate of 79.17%, with 19 wins, four losses and one tied game.
