here are moments in the game of cricket where the players manage to get a second chance to come back from a blunder. Towhid Hridoy was among the players who made up for his two dropped chances by running out Charith Asalanka in the first Super match of Asia Cup 2025 against Sri Lanka.

‌The Sri Lankan batters might have struggled in the first half of the innings as the Bangladesh bowlers came restricted them to 72/3 after the Lions managed to finish the powerplay on a healthy score of 56/1. However, Dasun Shanaka and Charith Asalanka managed to get the Lankans back into the game with some explosive hits towards the end. The partnership started to look dangerous, and the two dropped catches did not help their cause either. However, the partnership between the two was finally broken in the 19th over in one of the most unusual ways possible.

The Lankan skipper was dismissed on the first delivery of the over, and skied the ball towards the mid-wicket region. Towhid Hridoy, who came running in from the boundary line, put in the dive but failed to complete the catch once again. However, on this occasion, Hridoy got lucky due to Asalanka’s poor running between the wickets and  got an opportunity to make up for his drop catch with a straight and flat throw towards the strikers end. As Litton Das collected the throw and dislodged the bails, he was a foot outside his crease and was sent back to the dressing room on a score of 21 off 12.

Asalanka wasted the lifeline with poor running.
