CSK vs DC | Twitter in awe as Sanju Samson oozes class with his loft down the ground

Some players, while in play, force you to sit back and take notice with their class and timing and Sanju Samson is one among them. He strengthened those credentials further with a lofted straight drive off Khaleel Ahmed during the CSK vs RR match in Delhi that had viewers in awe with his skill.

‌Batting first, CSK had aggregated 187/8 on the back of handy knocks from Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis. Chasing 188 to avoid the ignominy of finishing at the bottom of the table, RR started well as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi adding 37 runs in just 22 balls.

But just as Jaiswal was looking good for a big knock, Anshul Kamboj went through the gates to send the southpaw back in the fourth over. And that signalled the entry of the Royals captain Sanju Samson into the field. After facing just three balls, Samson pulled out an unbelievable shot that signalled he was looking in great touch and in the zone.

Khaleel erred in his length sending a fuller delivery around off-stump and Samson was quick to respond to that gift. He just pressed forward and put bat to ball checking it on the way and still the ball flew off his bat. The lofted straight drive landed just short of the boundary crossing the fence in a bounce.

Though it was a familiar sight off Sanju’s batting, Twitter was in awe with the unbelievable ease with which Sanju pulled that off leaving even his teammates and opponents applauding that shot.

 What a shot!

Cricket is a game of failures, where the rare successes can often define the narrative of players and talents. No wonder then that throwing away a good start is considered the most cardinal sin for a top-order batter, a fate Yashasvi Jaiswal suffered at the hands of Anshul Kamboj in Delhi.
