CSK vs RR | Twitter amused as Deshpande 'repays' former mentor Dhoni by ending horrid knock with gorgeous grab

There is no count of the cricketers in India that can credit the scale of their careers to the enterprising captaincy of MS Dhoni, with Tushar Deshpande just being one of them. However, the former CSK pacer chose an amusing way to repay the faith by ending his former skipper's stay in Delhi.

Chennai Super Kings could not thoroughly capitalize on a belligerent powerplay, where they scored 68 runs on the back of a blistering 20-ball 43 from Ayush Mhatre, as they set the Rajasthan Royals 188 to chase at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. Dewald Brevis' boundary laden 42 and Shivam Dube's 39 off 32 deliveries provided the team an ample foundation through the middle overs too, yet the franchise could only muster 29 runs across the last four overs as boundaries came at a premium. A large part of it was down to MS Dhon's inability to create any momentum, the veteran managing only a solitary maximum in his 17-ball stay worth just 16 runs. To add to his woes, the wicket-keeper batter could not even stay till the end, his dismissal on the penultimate ball of the innings a cruel twist of irony.

Up against Akash Madhwal, Dhoni tried to pounce on a lower full-toss by shuffling across the crease and trying to paddle sweep it past fine-leg towards the vacant boundary. However, Tushar Deshpande was stationed for exactly that shot, and even as the Kookaburra approached him at break-neck speed the pacer crouched awkwardly while extending his hands upwards the white rock somwhow stuck iin his palms.

Twitterati was quick to point out how Dhoni is largely credited for Tushar becoming an IPL mainstay because of the faith he placed in him as a strike bowler despite middling returns, and the dismissal merely completed the karmic cycle.
