As per Artificial Intelligence, Lancashire will beat the Kent by six wickets in the third quarter-final of the ongoing T20 Blast 2025. Jos Buttler’s brilliant knock of 61 runs, alongside Phil Salt’s 42 (28), will help their side chase the target comfortably and win the game, nine balls to spare.

Pitch and Weather

It was a typical Old Trafford surface, dry, gripping, with patches of turn expected later. The chasing side found it easy to execute a successful run chase.

The early evening in Manchester was quite a bit cloudy, which provided a swing for the seamers. There was no rain threat during the game, with the temperature hovering around 18 degrees Celsius, including a light breeze.

Match Report

After opting to bat first, Kent had a brilliant opening start by the opening pair of Tawanda Muyeye and D. Bell Drummond. It came to an end with the dismissal of Muyeye in the sixth over, at the individual score of 27 runs off 19 balls, with four fours and a six. Following his departure, Joe Denly was dismissed cheaply at the score of just nine runs off 10 balls. Meanwhile, Drummond scored 34 (28), with five fours. Later in the innings, Sam Billings contributed with 30 runs off 21 balls, with three fours and a six, followed by Jack Leaning’s 14 (11). These contributions helped Kent score 152/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Speaking of Lancashire’s bowling, Luke Wood scalped two wickets for 27 runs in his four overs, alongside support from Mitchell Stanley (2/29 in four overs). Besides these two, Tom Hartley also picked a wicket for 24 runs in his four-over spell.

While chasing the target, Lancashire lost skipper Keaton Jennings early in the fifth over. He scored 18 runs off 17 balls. After this, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler added a fiery partnership for the second wicket. Both batters smashed some amazing fours and sixes to accelerate the scoring rate in Lancashire’s run chase. Salt’s knock came to an end on the second ball of the 10th over, when he was caught by Billings off Parkinson. He played a quick knock of 42 runs off just 28 balls, with five fours and two sixes. Furthermore, Jos Buttler took charge of power hitting to help his side chase the target successfully. He smashed 61 runs off just 39 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. Later, Luke Wells’ unbeaten 19 (12), hitting three fours. These knocks helped Lancashire chase the target in just 18.3 overs, scoring 156/4. With this win, Lancashire have also qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 Blast 2025.

Player of the Match

The veteran Lancashire wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning knock of 61 (39), with seven fours and two sixes. His partnership with Phil Salt played a pivotal role in their side’s successful run chase.
