LSG vs RCB | Twitter on the edge as Digvesh stops short of becoming next Kesrick Williams

Virat Kohli waves his bat after reaching his fifty during the LSG vs RCB macth in Lucknow.

Virat Kohli’s aura and his steely resolve while at the crease often act as a fear factor among bowlers not to cross paths with him. Digvesh Rathi tried playing mind games with the master batter during the LSG vs RCB game in Lucknow before quickly realising his mistake and apologising.

‌Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten century and his 152-run stand with Mitchell Marsh at the Ekana Stadium took Lucknow Super Giants to a formidable 227/3 after being put into bat first. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a mountain to climb to be in contention for a top-two spot in IPL 2025 points table.

However, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli started off aggressively as the pair added 61 runs for the opening wicket in just 34 balls before the England batter was dismissed by Akash Singh in the final over of the powerplay. But LSG pacer Will O’Rourke dismissed Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone in his second over to arrest RCB’s scoring momentum. Kohli continued in the same vein as he brought up his fifty in the 10th over.

With new batter Mayank Agarwal also hitting the ground running with three fours off pacer Akash Singh, RCB was back in the game with 113 runs required from the last 10 overs. Digvesh Rathi, the LSG spinner who was returning to the side after a one-match suspension, continued with his mind games as he stopped just short of delivering the fifth ball of the next over.

Kohli was visibly irritated with the spinner’s gesture as he gave an angry stare. But Digvesh suddenly realised that he was up against Kohli and retracted from an altercation. He quickly apologised to the batter making up some excuse as Kohli reacted with a broad smile and even LSG skipper Rishabh Pant could not hide his smile.

Twitter was on the edge as Digvesh did not want to end up on the same path as West Indian pacer Kesrick Williams who was given a taste of his own medicine by the RCB batter.
