Prithvi Shaw to play for Maharashtra in next domestic season

The young batter Prithvi Shaw has been out of the Indian team for a long time owing to a lot of issues. However, he attracted the headlines for his recent performances in domestic cricket, but still, things haven’t been in his favour for the last couple of months, which made him part ways with MCA.

In what seems to be one of the big moves, the young Mumbai and India batter Prithvi Shaw has joined the Maharashtra Cricket Association for the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season. The 25-year-old parted ways with his former domestic side, Mumbai. The 25-year-old requested the Mumbai Cricket Association for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to move to another state team. In the same line of events, MCA approved the NOC for Prithvi Shaw and cleared his way to explore the new opportunities in the Indian domestic circuit.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years,” said Shaw in a statement after signing with the Maharashtra Cricket Association ahead of the upcoming domestic season.

Rohit Pawar, president of the Maharashtra Cricket Association, believes that Shaw’s experience in international cricket and his IPL exposure would be a crucial element for the team. “Team would stand firmly behind Prithvi in his new journey for the upcoming domestic seasons,” said Pawar in a statement.

In his domestic career for more than eight years since 2017, Shaw has played 58 First-Class games, scoring 4556 runs, with 13 centuries and 18 half-centuries, alongside playing 65 List-A games, and getting 3399 runs in 65 innings, with 10 centuries and 14 half-centuries. Besides these two formats, he has also appeared in 117 T20 games, scoring 2902 runs in 117 innings, with a century and 20 half-centuries.
