LSG vs MI | Twitter enthralled as trickster Mayank has last laugh after Rohit banishes his express pace

Mayank Yadav was ecstatic after getting rid of the dangerous Rohit Sharma in LSG's encounter against MI at the Wankhede on Sunday

Sometimes the greater a bowler's weapon is, the more lethal it's absence becomes -- think of Ravindra Jadeja and his arm ball. Mayank Yadav used the same principle to dispatch Rohit Sharma at the Wankhede on Sunday in a thrilling five-ball battle featuring maximums and deceptions aplenty.

Ryan Rickelton got Mumbai Indians off to a rollicking start in the afternoon game on Sunday against Lucknow Super Giants as he faced the entirety of the first two overs and fetched 20 runs in the process. It was only when Mayank Yadav arrived for his second go-around that Rohit Sharma managed to get the strike and what followed might go down in IPL folklore as the making of a future great.

Mayank steamed in first up and delivered a 141ks missile at the stumps but the pace was never a worry for the Mumbai skipper, who raised one leg and nonchalantly pushed the ball on its way to the stands. The young pacer retorted by aiming one at Rohit's head but it only made the veteran's eyes glow-up as he stood tall and dispatched the ball over square leg for another mammoth six. Mayank was clearly under the pump, and returned to his strengths with a couple of length deliveries that albeit brought Rohit no runs did not seem to trouble him either. The 37-year-old might have felt he was in the ascendancy, not knowing he had been perfectly set up for what in trickster circles they call the 'turn.' On the penultimate ball of the over, Mayank went wide but this team the speedometer read a paltry 120ks and the abrupt change of pace was enough to make Rohit awkwardly throw his hands at the Kookaburra and send a simple catch down short third man's throat.

Twitterati could not be more entertained.
