Manchester United revealed record annual revenues of £666.5 million, including £164 million in Q4, placing them in a strong position under Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules. This financial strength could allow the Red Devils to revisit a move for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, previously valued at around £100 million, as they aim to strengthen a midfield that has struggled under Ruben Amorim.

Going to the January transfer window, Manchester United’s financial strength has positioned them well to target Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. The club recently announced record-breaking annual revenues of £666.5 million, with £164 million generated in the fourth quarter alone, putting them in a strong position under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. United had previously considered signing Baleba after bringing in Benjamin Sesko, but Brighton’s £100 million valuation stalled the move.

CEO Omar Berrada highlighted the club’s ongoing improvements on and off the pitch, including summer squad additions, upgraded facilities at Carrington, and continued planning for a new Old Trafford stadium. United’s midfield has been a weak spot, with Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Manuel Ugarte as Amorim’s primary choices, while academy talent Kobbie Mainoo competes for a spot.

With robust finances and cost-reduction measures, the club may revisit their interest in Baleba in 2026, potentially alongside alternative targets like Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. Despite on-field struggles, including a 3-0 derby loss to Manchester City, United’s commercial and sporting infrastructure improvements signal that they are prepared to invest in strengthening key areas, particularly the midfield.
