Bologna director Marco Di Vaio shared that his working relationship with Thiago Motta was distant despite their success. Motta later joined Juventus but faced similar problems in Turin, including poor communication and locker room disconnect. After just eight months, he was sacked and replaced by Igor Tudor, ending a challenging spell with both clubs.

Just like the anticipation surrounding Juventus' managerial changes, Thiago Motta’s short and controversial stint at the club continues to raise eyebrows. Former Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio revealed that his working relationship with Motta was never truly smooth, describing him as someone who preferred to isolate himself rather than engage with the group. Despite leading Bologna to a historic Champions League qualification, Motta left to join Juventus — a move that ended poorly.

Motta lasted only eight months in Turin before being sacked in March 2025, and replaced by Igor Tudor. Reports suggest that Motta’s blunt style and aloof nature made him unpopular among players and staff. According to Di Vaio, the club even took steps back to give him space to work, highlighting the strained communication throughout his time in charge.

Interestingly, very few Juventus players acknowledged Motta's departure, reflecting the rumoured disconnect in the locker room. As Juventus prepares to face Bologna this weekend, Motta will watch from afar — sidelined from both clubs he was closely tied to. His coaching journey, once filled with promise, now faces uncertainty after a year of strained relationships and underwhelming results.
