Barcelona is moving away from their €120m-rated target, Alexander Isak, due to financial constraints and is now considering Liverpool's Luis Diaz, valued at €70m-€75m. Deco has initiated informal talks, with Diaz keen on the move. To fund the transfer, Barcelona may sell players like Gavi or Frenkie de Jong, while Pedri remains untouchable.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Barcelona are shifting their focus from Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak to Liverpool’s Luis Diaz due to financial constraints. Isak, valued at over €120m (£101m), is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, making a deal difficult for the Catalan club. Instead, sporting director Deco is working on a plan to secure Diaz, who is priced between €70m-€75m (£59m-£63m) and is reportedly eager to join Barcelona, fulfilling a childhood dream.

Barcelona’s financial situation has improved compared to last summer, but they still need to generate funds through player sales. Midfielder Pedri is deemed untouchable, but the club is open to selling Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen, and even Ronald Araujo if he requests a move. The club may also benefit from player sell-on clauses.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in 2022, has been a regular starter under Arne Slot but could see his minutes reduced if Liverpool sign a new striker. With Cody Gakpo preferred on the left and Darwin Nunez underperforming, Diaz’s future at Anfield remains uncertain. If Barcelona can raise sufficient funds, the Colombian winger could be their marquee signing for next season.
