Liverpool suffered only their second Premier League defeat this season, losing 3-2 to Fulham despite leading early through Mac Allister. Meanwhile, Southampton were relegated with a record seven matches left after a 3-1 loss to Tottenham. Brennan Johnson scored twice. Manchester City and United drew 0-0, and Arsenal's 1-1 draw left Liverpool needing 11 more points for the title.

As the Premier League 2024–25 season inches towards its climax, Liverpool’s surprise 3-2 defeat to Fulham has momentarily delayed their title celebration. Despite a stunning opener by Alexis Mac Allister, defensive lapses cost Arne Slot’s side, who were previously unbeaten in 26 league games. Liverpool still requires just 11 points to equal Manchester United’s record of 20 English top-flight titles, with Arsenal trailing by seven points and only seven games left.

Meanwhile, Southampton made unwanted history by becoming the first Premier League team to be relegated with seven matches remaining, following their 3-1 loss to Tottenham. It was their 25th defeat in 31 games, and manager Ivan Juric now targets avoiding Derby County’s all-time low tally of 11 points from the 2007-08 season.

Elsewhere, Manchester City and Manchester United played out a goalless draw, missing the chance to climb in the standings. Chelsea too dropped points in a 0-0 draw at Brentford, with Cole Palmer benched for most of the match. The results capped off a dramatic weekend in English football, marked by Liverpool’s title stumble, Southampton’s rapid downfall, and an increasingly tight race for European qualification spots.
