IND vs BAN | Twitter in disbelief as baffling tactics keeps Sanju Samson in the dugout

The Indian cricket team often adopts a flexible approach with their batting order in T20Is and Sanju Samson was at the receiving end of this during the Asia Cup T20 2025 match against Bangladesh. The wicketkeeper-batter was pushed down till eight and denied a go in the Super Four match in Dubai.

India started slowly after being put in to bat in their Asia Cup T20 2025 Super Four match against Bangladesh in Dubai. But openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill made up for it with their stunning assault in the last three overs of the powerplay to power India to 72/0, their highest six-over score in the tournament.

But once Abhishek departed for a 37-ball 75, after smashing five sixes and six fours, the Indian innings slowed down to end at 168/6 in their stipulated 20 overs. Hardik Pandya’s knock of 38 from 29 balls took the side close to the 170-run mark with Rishad Hossain leading a great comeback with a spell of 2/27 in three overs.

But what baffled the cricketing world was the tactics which the Men in Blue adopted with respect to their batting order. With spin in play, they decided to send Shivam Dube at number three, but that move backfired.

Hardik Pandya walked in at five, but with eight overs remaining to play, Tilak Varma and Axar Patel were sent ahead of Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter was not impressed but hid his disappointment with a sheepish smile as he waited patiently for his opportunity.

Twitter was in disbelief as the already-padded Samson roamed around the dugout talking to his teammates. He never got an opportunity to free his hands as Pandya got out in the last ball of the innings.
