Asia Cup 2025 |Twitter surprised as Nasum puts Afghanistan on the back foot with first ball wicket

‌A maiden in a game of T20 cricket is one of the rarest feats in the game. Nasum Ahmed became one of the bowlers to achieve this in the second innings of the Asia Cup match against Afghanistan, as he started his campaign with a wicket maiden in the first over of the Afghanistan chase.

Bangladesh ended the first innings on a score of 152, which seemed to be slightly under par considering how they started in the first 10 overs, as they lost their way in the second half of the innings. The Afghanistan spinners Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad were the pick of the bowlers, taking a couple of scalps each. However, apart from them, there was another spinner who came into the spotlight in the second innings of the game to put the Afghans under the pump.

The bowler who created problems was a 30-year-old left-arm spinner, Nasum Ahmed, who was playing his first game of the Asia Cup T20 2025. Ahmed started with a beauty to dismiss Afghan opener Sediqullah Atal on the first delivery of the innings as he was caught plump in front of his stumps. Nasum did not end there as he continued to keep things tight after the wicket, and followed it with five dot balls to start his campaign with a wicket maiden. This was not the only over where the left armer showed his class as he followed it up with two more great overs and got the prized wicket of Ibrahim Zadran in the fifth over as he completed his three overs with figures of 2/7.

What a wonderful start from Nasum.
