‌Mohammad Rizwan guided the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to a five-run win against Guyana Amazon Warriors in a low-scoring thriller in a Caribbean Premier League 2025 match on Monday. The wicketkeeper-batter top-scored in the match with a 62-ball 85 as the Patriots continued to stay fifth in the points table with six points from nine matches, giving them a mathematical chance to qualify for the playoffs. However, the Warriors are just a win away from sealing the knockout spot and are currently in fourth with eight points from seven games.

After being put in to bat first at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, the Patriots could manage only 149/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Rizwan held the visitors’ batting together, hitting three sixes and eight fours during his knock. But he failed to get any support from the other end, with number seven batter Navin Bidaisee (22*) being the next best run-getter for the Patriots. Left-arm spinner Hassan Khan finished with impressive figures of 2/21 in four overs for the Warriors, while fellow left-armer Gudakesh Motie picked up 2/44.

The home side’s chase unravelled after a 38-run opening partnership between Ben McDermott (21) and Moeen Ali. Shai Hope tried to hold one end up, but the Warriors kept losing wickets from the other, and despite the wicketkeeper-batter’s 27-ball 31, which included three fours, the Warriors slipped from 44/1 to 109/6. With 11 required from the last over, Naseem Shah gave away just five runs, including the wicket of Keemo Paul, to halt the Warriors' chase at 144/8. For the Patriots, left-arm wrist spinner Waqar Salamkheil picked up 2/28 in four overs while Shah ended with 2/29.
