Some batters are close to our hearts for their style and class and Murali Vijay, with his attractive drives and flicks, was one among them. Urvil Patel took the Chennai Super Kings fans on a trip down memory lane with a majestic flick that reminded them of the former batter, against Gujarat Titans.

‌With the IPL 2025 playoff spot already out of contention, Chennai Super Kings stepped on to the Narendra Modi Stadium against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad with only pride to play for. Batting first, CSK got off to an excellent start as Ayush Mhatre played like a free spirit to plunder 28 runs from the second over bowled by Arshad Khan to take the visitors to 34/0 in two overs.

However, Ayush could not continue his free-flowing run as he was dismissed by Purple Cap holder Prasidh Krishna in the fourth over with Mohammed Siraj taking a skier. In walked home boy Urvil Patel, the homeboy who knows the venue like the back of his hand, at number three.

In just his fifth ball, he showed pure class to majestically flick Siraj, who drifted onto the pads, over the mid-wicket boundary for a maximum. The copybook style and the ease of that shot reminded the fans of their former opener and stylish batter, Murali Vijay. Twitteratti and the Yellow army were equally excited as it gave something for the battered fans to cheer about this season.

What a shot!

He made it look so easy!

They will be big stars in future!

Jinxxx!

Pure timing and great wrist!

Haa!
