IPL 2025 | Twitter reacts as Tushar Deshpande's lone loud appeal wins him Prabhsimran's wicket

A bowler always has the best shot at a dismissal when there's a faint edge, and Tushar Deshpande proved just that. In the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at Jaipur, his solitary appeal turned into success as he claimed the crucial wicket of the in-form Prabhsimran Singh.

‌After a rain-curtailed match the previous day, the IPL finally resumed with Rajasthan Royals taking on Punjab Kings in Jaipur. The visitors’ captain won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat pitch. However, the decision backfired early as Tushar Deshpande struck in the second over, dismissing Priyansh Arya. The troubles deepened for Punjab when young Kwena Maphaka removed debutant Mitchell Owen. Things went from bad to worse as Tushar Deshpande returned to dismiss the in-form Prabhsimran Singh in the fourth over.

On the very first ball of that over, Deshpande bowled a 143.4 kmph delivery on a good length, targeting leg stump. Prabhsimran attempted a flick but only managed a faint edge. The ball was neatly caught by captain Sanju Samson behind the stumps. Initially, Deshpande was the only one appealing for a caught behind. Undeterred, he urged Samson to review the decision. The Royals skipper agreed, and the DRS revealed a spike as the ball passed the bat. A disheartened Prabhsimran had to make his way back to the pavilion, while Deshpande’s conviction was praised both on the field and across social media.
