West Indies to play Nepal in historic first bilateral series between both sides

‌West Indies will play three T20 International matches against Nepal in a historical first meeting between both sides in a bilateral setup. All the matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in September later this year with Nepal being officially assigned with the hosting rights.

The Asian side is looking to use the three-match series as an important event in getting ready for the Asian qualifiers of the 2026 T20 World Cup which will start in October. The matches will be played on September 27, 28 and 30 with the qualifiers coming up immediately after that.

Cricket West Indies chief executive Chris Dehring, through a statement, called the series a significant milestone in the ongoing mission to grow and globalise the game of cricket.

"This series is more than just a set of international matches - it's a celebration of the game's expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity," CWI chief executive Chris Dehring said. "As a full-member nation, we see it as part of our responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond our borders.

"Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours. We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah."

West Indies and Nepal have met each other only once in an international match to date with the Windies coasting to a comfortable 101-run win in a 2023 ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier match in Harare two years ago.
