Pacer Khaled Ahmed’s outstanding bowling performance in the second innings helped defending champions Rangpur Riders beat Guyana Amazon Warriors in the second game of the Global Super LEague. The Riders managed to defend their low total of 162/5 and get a winning start to their campaign.*/

The Riders’ skipper, Nurul Hasan, won the toss and decided to bat first as the reigning champions posted a total of 162/5 in the allotted 20 overs in the first innings. Number three Kyle Mayers played a crucial and unbeaten knock for his side, scoring 44 runs off 31 balls, with three fours and two sixes, following opener Soumya Sarkar’s 35 runs off 36 balls, with five fours. Later in the innings, the veteran all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmad also contributed with a quick knock of 34 runs off just 21 balls, with two fours and as many sixes. Besides these two, Saif Hassan and Nurul Hasan also scored 18 runs each for their side in the first innings.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors’ skipper and the veteran spinner, Imran Tahir and Gudakesh Motie scalped 2 wickets each for their side in the first half of the game, alongside a wicket picked by Shamar Springer.

While chasing the target, the Warriors were bundled out at the score of 154 runs in 19.1 overs. Opener Johnson Charles looked to be the only batter in fluent flow, scoring 40 runs off 28 balls, with five fours and two sixes. Following him, the veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali also scored 27 runs off 18 balls, with three fours and a six. But their knocks couldn’t help the Warriors chase down the total successfully.

Player of the Match Khaled Ahmed scalped four wickets for 36 runs in his four overs, alongside two wickets picked by Azmatullah Omarzai and Tabraiz Shamsi. Besides this trio, Harmeet Singh also bagged a wicket for his side while defending the target.
