The defending champions, Rangpur Riders, will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their campaign opener in the Global Super League’s second edition. The Riders will aim to get a winning start to their title defence with a win in this game and gain momentum in their quest for a second GSL title.

The Caribbean franchise Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on the BPL outfit, Rangpur Riders, in the second match of the ongoing Global Super League 2025. The game will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday, Friday July 11, at 4:30 AM (Indian Standard Time).

Guyana Amazon Warriors haven’t been in a great run of form in their last five T20 games, which they played in the last season of the Global Super League. The Warriors have won only two games while losing three. They will aim to start their GSL 2025 campaign on a winning note at their home ground.

On the other hand, the reigning GSL champions, Rangpur Riders, had a miserable end to their campaign in the Bangladesh Premier League earlier this year. They lost to Khulna Tigers by a big margin of 9 wickets in the tournament’s Eliminator game, following four consecutive defeats in their last four league matches.

GAW vs RR Head-to-Head in T20S

Guyana Amazon Warriors and Rangpur Riders have faced each other in only one game, which they played last year in the first edition of the Global Super League. The Rangpur Riders emerged victorious in that game by a margin of 15 runs, bundling out the Warriors at the score of just 102 runs while defending a low total of 117 runs.

GAW 35-65 RR

Pitch and Weather

Guyana’s Providence Stadium has a balanced surface, and knack of favouring the batters in the first half of the game. However, the bowlers might get a good hold here as the game progresses to the second innings. The overall average score at this track has been 135 runs, while the average first-innings score is 150. So, the toss-winning skipper might look forward to batting first and trouble the opponent with a tough chase in the second innings.

The weather will be quite cloudy in the evening around the start of the game, with slight chances of some showers. The minimum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. So, the overcast conditions might help the pacers in this game.

Team News

Both teams will be playing their first game in the tournament, so it will be their first chance to field their best playing XI. Both teams are studded with some brilliant all-rounders, amazing bowlers and power-hitting batters who can turn the course of the game on their own.

GAW Probable XI: Johnson Charles, Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Dwaine Pretorius, Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, Imran Tahir (C), Akeal Hosein, Shamar Springer, and Mark Adair.

RR Probable XI: Mohammad Naim, Ibrahim Zadran, Khawaja Nafay, Nurul Hasan (C&WK), Iftikhar Ahmed, Kyle Mayers, Soumya Sarkar, Abu Hider, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kamrul Islam, and Akif Javed.
