Two struggling sides in the ongoing Delhi Premier League, South Delhi Superstarz and New Delhi Tigers will take on each other in the 18th game of the tournament. The Superstarz will eye their first win in the tournament after three successive defeats and an ‘abandoned game’, defining a dismal run.
South Delhi Superstarz’s campaign in the ongoing DPL 2025 started with a five-wicket defeat against the East Delhi Riders. It was opponent skipper Anuj Rawat’s match-winning half century that stole the game from the Superstarz. This defeat was followed by massive and straight defeats against West Delhi Lions and Central Delhi Kings. WDL outplayed SDS by eight wickets before the Kings defeated Badoni’s men by a huge margin of nine wickets. SDS’ second game against East Delhi Riders on Saturday was abandoned due to rain. They will be eyeing their first win in the tournament with a success against the Tigers.
On the other hand, the New Delhi Tigers are placed in the seventh spot of the points table, with only one win and three defeats in their four games so far. They had a brilliant start to their campaign with a 40-run win against the Outer Delhi Warriors. But they lost the winning momentum and faced three consecutive losses in the next three games. It includes their nine-wicket defeat against the Kings (CDK) and seven-wicket defeat against the Riders (EDR) before losing by 10 runs against Purani Delhi 6 in the last game. The Tigers will look forward to claiming their second win in the tournament iafter a string of defeats.

South Delhi Suprstarz and New Delhi Tigers will be facing each other for first time in DPL. So, both teams wil be aiming to win this first game of their head-to-head rivalry.
The surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium provides a great assistance for the batters, mostly in the second innings. The team batting second has won more games compared to the team batting first in the tournament’s current edition. So, the toss-winning captain might look forward to bowling first and chase the target in favourable conditions.
The weather in Delhi on Monday is expected to be a bit cloudy, with gentle breeze, with the temperature hovering around 30 degrees Celsius.
South Delhi Superstarz might go ahead with some new plans and a bit of shuffling in the middle order of the batting. Their playing XI is unlikely to be changed.
