IRE W vs PAK W second T20I Preview | Pakistan look to keep series alive after reverse in first game

Pakistan Women will be up against Ireland Women for the second T20I in Castle Avenue, Dublin, on August 8. After losing the first game, Pakistan will aim to keep the three-match series alive, while Ireland will look to continue their winning run at home with another clinical performance.

‌Pakistan will look to turn around their awful T20I form, while Ireland will look to seal the three-match series at the first instance when they meet at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Castle Avenue, Dublin, on Friday. Pakistan have lost seven of their last nine T20I matches, including the 11-run loss against the home side on Wednesday.

Though skipper Fatima Sana’s four-wicket haul and the lower middle order’s resistance are positives that can be taken by the visitors going into the second tie, Pakistan need a collective display across departments to get back to winning ways. That will also help them keep the three-match series alive till the last game, to be played at the same venue on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ireland, who have won their last six games across formats at home, will not want to change anything from their display against the visitors in the last game. Skipper Gaby Lewis will hope to get some runs up front and will hope Orla Prendergast to continue making an impact in the game with both bat and ball. The all-rounder scored 29 runs before picking up 3/28 with her medium pace to win the Player of the match award in the first game.

Pitch and Conditions

The Castle Avenue surface is expected to continue supporting the seamers, as in the last match, with the fast bowlers accounting for 12 off the 16 wickets, excluding run outs, taken. The pitch will have true bounce and will support shot making, and the quick outfield will mean the batters will get full value for their shots. The ground is considered good for chasing down totals, with four of the six T20Is being won by teams batting second.

It will be a cool and clear evening at the Clontarf Cricket Club with the temperature expected to be around 13 degrees. With hardly any cloud cover, the chances of rain are placed at 2%.
