"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up," Alfred famously echoes to Bruce 'Batman' Wayne in one of the comic's many renditions. Prasidh Krishna could for sure relate to it at The Oval on Friday as a dastardly first spell paved the way for some game-changing antics later on.
England headed to Tea on Day 2 at The Oval nine runs behind India''s first innings score of 224, with practically just two wickets remaining given Chris Woakes' unavailability through injury. Just minutes before, the hosts had been cruising at 215/5 and eyeing an impactful lead with two specialist batters Harry Brook and Jamie Smith at the crease despite the demons on the hostile surface. The break was right on the horizon, as was a moral victory given the visitors had scalped four in the session yet failed to gain ascendancy, only for Prasidh Krishna to flip the script with a dramatic over.
The right-arm quick had conceded 31 runs in his first five-over spell to begin the day downtrodden and while the second spell brought him the scalp of Zak Crawley, a lot was left to be desired. When Shubman Gill thus handed him the ball for a two-over burst before Tea, he grasped the opportunity like a man possessed and with the first ball of his second, he had Smith caught at slip. Krishna was ecstatic but this was just the beginning. Jamie Overton walked in next and shouldered arms to a slighly back-of-a-length inducker, prompting an Indian review that showed the Dukes was missing off. A sharp bumper followed that evidently troubled the batter before Krishna returned to the inseamer, this time the Dukes missing the stumps by a whisker. However, a wicket seemed inevitable even though only two balls remained in the session, and Krishna needed no second invitation as he well straighter and fuller. Overton tried to drive the ball down the ground, only to be beaten emphatically and trapped plumb LBW for a duck in his comeback game.
Twitterati could not be happier for Krishna's redemption arc.

Good bowler
Prasidh Krishna is a good bowler. He needs a good coach who can guide him. It’s not easy for a player to change quickly. He needs time to learn. Hope he is groomed well.
