Few events are as popular as the Olympics and with the quadrennial tournament brewing up, Faf du Plessis, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper almost auditioned for it. During the RCB versus CSK encounter, the Proteas star made a difficult catch look simple with his scintillating athleticism.

Winning a rare toss, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s decision to field first backfired for the CSK side as Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ strong start coupled with middle-order prowess propelled RCB to 218 runs in a must-win clash. Following a rocky start, Rachin Ravindra and Ajinkya Rahane stabilised the ship before RCB bowlers turned the tables by scalping four wickets in 29 balls during the middle overs phase. But the dismissal that grabbed a lot of eyeballs revolved around Faf du Plessis taking a scintillating catch in the 15th over.

On the last ball of the 15th over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a low full-toss outside the stumps that Mitchell Santner tried to loft over the inner ring. The southpaw failed to time the stroke and ended up seeing the ball swirl towards Faf who ended up completing a scintillating catch. The 39-year-old timed the jump and ended up pulling the hand right in front to grasp the ball with the right hand. Seeing a one-handed stunner with a huge jump, the Twitterverse drew comparison to audition for the Olympics high jump.
