The evolving white ball cricket often favours the batters to a greater extend than the bowlers. Moreover, small venues such as the Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bengaluru have very less to off the bowlers with their IPL home team RCB’s latest recruit Suyash Sharma facing the heat from a retained RCBian.

The decision to field first worked well for Madhya Pradesh who managed to curb Delhi to a below-par 146 runs total in the first innings. In response, the Rajat Patidar-led unit faced early jitters, courtesy of Ishant Sharma’s new ball spell. However, the skipper stepped up at the time and led from the front under Harpreet Singh Bhatia’s presence. 

Aggressive approach from Patidar and Bhatia’s second-fiddle knock propelled Madhya Pradesh to nelson by the 13th over. This is when Suyash Sharma was brought into the attack and the ploy worked against Delhi’s favour with the bowler’s new RCB mate showing tearing him down. Suyash sprayed a fuller one outside the stumps on the third ball of the over, to which Patidar clobbered over deep mid-wicket for a six. In the next ball, the right-hander rocked back to pull a shortish delivery at the same area to notch up his half-century. Seeing a regular RCB mate expose Chimmaswamy Stadium’s harsh reality for the bowlers to a new RCB recruit, the Twitterverse exploded.
