Glenn Maxwell apart from being electric on the field is also very chirpy on the mic and today we once again got to see a combination of both as the Aussie called on a runout even before picking up the ball and guess what, he actually did inflict it. Australia went on to win the match by 134 runs.
The first T20I between Australia and Sri Lanka at the Adelaide Oval was a story of complete Kangaroo dominance as they crushed the visitors by 134 runs. The top performers for Australia with the bat were returning David Warner (100*), skipper Aaron Finch (64) and a flamboyant Glenn Maxwell (62) as they piled up a mammoth total of 223.
But apart from his heroics with the bat, Maxwell also was electric on the field and inflicted a superb run out to dismiss Wanindu Hasaranga (5). The run-out might very well be the highlight of the match as Maxwell called for it even before picking up the ball.
Yes, you read it right. Maxwell was mic'd up and was clearly heard saying, “run out” as he ran towards the ball. Then he did what he does best, picked up the ball and with a rocket throw delivered it to Alex Carey with impeccable precision, who had enough time to inflict the run out with ease.
The Sri Lankan team perished at a total of 99. While Adam Zampa scalped three wickets, both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins bagged two wickets each to dismantle the Lankan batting line up.
