Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are reportedly hunting to acquire the services of Pakistan legend Wasim Akram to train coaches and senior players in the team. They are also looking to rope in Julian Wood, the power hitting coach from England, in an attempt to improve different aspects of their game.

According to a report by Sri Lankan daily newspaper Ceylon Today, Sri Lanka are looking to acquire the services of legendary Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram in a role where he'll be assisting and training coaches and senior members in the team. Contrary to expectations, should SLC rope in Akram, it will not be as a bowling coach, although the 53-year-old has previously worked as a bowling coach with T20 franchises Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Islamabad United.

Meanwhile, Julian Wood, a power-hitting specialist from England, is also in radar of SLC, who are looking to rope in personnel to utilize modern tools in coaching that they are aiming to introduce in the near future. Sri Lanka are expected to hold talks with the duo of Akram and Wood in the upcoming two weeks and despite the reports, the talks between the parties involved are still in early stages.

While Akram, who is widely considered as one of the greatest fast bowlers, has more than 900 international wickets to his name, Wood, on the other hand, played first-class cricket for both Hampshire and Berkshire, scoring close to a 1000 runs.
