VIDEO | Rashid Khan left embarrassed after forcing LBW review on thick inside edge

DRS’ value is humongous and shouldn’t be wasted as a team gets one per innings. The primary reason behind the existence if DRS is to eradicate blunders but Rashid Khan forced Gulbadin Naib to take a review for an LBW decision when the ball had taken an inside edge of the bat.

DRS is no less than a boon to cricket but it should be utilised wisely. After a shaky start, Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar were stabilising the Indian ship with a quiet partnership and Afghanistan were eyeing to get another breakthrough to put the team on the back foot.

On the third delivery of the 20th over, Rashid Khan trapped Vijay Shankar leg before and appealed for it right away. The umpire ruled it not out, to which Afghanistan went upstairs for a review. The replays showed that Shankar got a huge inside edge and the on field umpire’s decision sustained. Afghanistan players were left in shock after looking at the replay as the edge was too huge to be missed.

In this era of cricket, a team cannot afford to step a foot wrong and lose such valuable reviews. It will be interesting to see how heavily this blunder will cost Afghanistan in the rest of the innings.
