The England and Wales Cricket Board are set to cash on their World Cup success, after securing sponsorship deals worth an estimated £50 million a year. The English Cricket team are in the final of the Cricket World Cup for the first time since 1992, where they lost to Pakistan.

After decades of continuous disappointment, the English Cricket fans finally have something to rejoice, as their team have reached the final of a World Cup for the first time in 27 years. However, it won't just be the fans  who will be celebrating, as the success has meant that the ECB are all set to secure sponsorship agreements worth almost £50 million a year.

According to a report by The Telegraph,  a number of major high street brands have joined bidding wars to plough money into the new Hundred competition with multiple sponsors likely to come on board, each paying in the region of £4 million a year. With kit sponsporship and Test series deals up for renewal, the ECB are set to have been assured tens of millions more.

The timely success of England has come as a boon for all the sponsors, with the bosses describing it as a "dream ticket" to bolster ECB negotiations. Tom Scott, managing director of sporting consultancy Trippant PR, described Sunday’s match as a “game-changer” for the game’s commercial prospects.

“They are already in the market for the Hundred and, as far as we are aware, the response from the brand community has already been very strong,” said Tom Gladstone, director of strategy at branding firm Engine Sport, while also adding that "there couldn't have been a more opportune time " to make long term investements.

The England players will also share the World Cup’s biggest prize pool of £3.2 million if they beat New Zealand.
