Ranji Trophy | Parthiv Patel not happy with Wayanad pitch

After losing to Kerala in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final match, Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel has expressed that the pitch used for the game was not a great one. Patel further admitted that the Gujarat side was outbowled by the home side and Kerala deserved to win the game yesterday.

The Ranji Trophy quarter-final match between Kerala and Gujarat ended inside three days as Kerala managed to get a semi-final ticket at Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad. Kerala managed to get an entry into the semi-final for the first time in their cricketing history by beating Gujarat by a margin of 113 runs.

Meanwhile, Gujarat captain Patel has termed the 22 yards as not a good wicket for an important game like the Ranji Trophy quarter-final. He termed the pitch to be a bit dangerous as there was an uneven bounce on the wicket.

"I wouldn't say it was the proper wicket. It wasn't the greatest of wickets for a Ranji Trophy quarterfinal. The scores are suggesting. I don't mind playing on a seaming wicket or a turning wicket. Up and down wicket from ball one is something we don't want. Everyone saw how many balls were hitting the batsmen. Seaming wicket, bouncy wicket that's not a problem. To start up and down from the first day first session, it's a bit dangerous," said Patel.

The wicket-keeper, however, gave credit to the Kerala side for the win. Gujarat was bowled out for poor scores of 162 and 81 respectively as the pacers Basil Thampi and Sandeep Warrier ripped through the Gujarat batting line up.

"We were outbowled throughout the game. They bowled better than us on this wicket and they deserved to win. Our shot selection could have been better in the first innings. Conceding 185 runs on that wicket and then again 171 was definitely more than ideal," the former India keeper explained.
