The selectors and players are matured enough to handle selection issues, say Vinod Rai

The Committee of Administrators Chairman Vinod Rai has stated that the selectors and Indian players are not children and they will resolve the issue of non-communication themselves. After the squad of Windies was announced Murali Vijay voiced his angst about not being communicated by the selectors.

Last few days in Indian cricket has been difficult with agitated players Karun Nair and Murali Vijay alleging the selectors or the management of a lack of communication regarding the team selection and related issues. While Vijay voiced his concerns after his exclusion from the squad for the Test series against Windies despite a good showing in county cricket following a horrendous England series, Nair was disappointed for he never had a chance to play in England and no one bothered to tell him what to do to get into the team.

After the debacle in England, where the Indian team lost both the ODI and the Test series, the Committee of Administrators will be holding a performance appraisal meeting, It would consist of the captain, the vice-captain, and the coach of the Indian cricket Team before the next Test match to be held in Hyderabad.

“I don’t think I would wish to bring the matter up (when the meeting to assess the performance takes place in Hyderabad before the second Test against West Indies). Not all that has been said is true. Also, I think they are not children that I need to get into this. I feel that there is a need for good communication between the players and the team management (the selectors are a part of it). And as long as that is happening, all is good,” Vinod Rai said to Hindustan Times.

Earlier when players came out voicing their concerns regarding non-communication, the Chief selector had denied non-communication stating that the players were already communicated to and there was no such issue.
