India went up 3-0 in the six-match ODI series on Wednesday, thanks to Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s magnificent knock of 160 and a brilliant bowling display by Chahal and Yadav who claimed 4-wicket hauls. MS Dhoni broke another record as well as the South Africans were bowled out for a total of 179.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli managed to score his 34th Century in international cricket. He is second on the all-time list of centurions trailing Sachin Tendulkar by 15 tons, who has hit 49 tons throughout his career.

1 – For the first time in Indian cricketing history, two spinners took 4-wicket hauls in the same game. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets each, in another dominating display at the Newlands.

4 – Yuzvendra Chahal became the fourth Indian spinner to take four or more wickets in two consecutive ODI matches. Narendra Hirwani, Ravindra Jadeja and surprisingly, Sachin Tendulkar are the other 3 who managed to reach that feat.

12 - Virat Kohli, scored his 12th century as captain of India as he went past Sourav Ganguly’s 11 ODI tons to become the Indian captain with the most tons scored. He ranks behind Ricky Ponting (22) and AB de Villiers (13) in the overall list of captains.

160* – Kohli’s score of 160 not-out is the highest score any Indian has managed to reach in an ODI in South Africa. Kohli went past Sachin Tendulkar’s 152 that came in 2003 CWC against African minnows, Namibia.

100 – The agile Virat Kohli aggregated 100 runs in non-boundary shots in his innings. Sourav Ganguly was previously the highest Indian run-getter in non-boundary shots when he scored 98 out his 130-runs in non-boundary shots in 1999 against Sri Lanka.

401 – Former skipper, MS Dhoni became the first Indian player to make 400 dismissals in ODI cricket. He Is only the fourth wicket-keeper to have reached this mark after Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and South Africa’s Mark Boucher.

9 – This is the first time India won nine consecutive ODIs outside the home. India have emerged victorious in 8 ODI’s on two previous occasions, but have never won 9 in a row until yesterday.

1 – This was the first time that South Africa lost 3 games in a row on home soil. This is also the first time that the Proteas won’t win a bilateral ODI series at home against India.

IND 303/6 - The visitor’s total of 303/6 is their highest score in an ODI against South Africa in the African continent. Their previous highest score was 279/6 when they played at Johannesburg in 2001.
