All of 17 and a little over 5ft tall, Parthiv Patel made his India debut and suddenly became a kid that everyone loved. However, the quirkiness in 2004 made him a hilarious character when he got under the skin of Steve Waugh at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground during the latter's last-ever game for Australia. When Waugh was on strike for one final time in his career, Parthiv provoked Waugh to try his trademark slog sweep and even predicted that he would miss it, to which Waugh replied, “Show a bit of respect, You were in nappies when I played my first Test match.”

Something similar happened today in Adelaide, although this was clearly within the line yet damn funny. In the 30th over of the innings, Ashwin bowled a flatter and just outside off delivery, which Khawaja left alone as the ball skidded in from well outside off. There was no mistake in the delivery, and Khawaja decided to leave it alone. But Pant found the funny side of it.

To inspire Ashwin further, he immediately chipped in with the line “ Sab Pujara nehi hai Bhai.” in reference to Cheteshwar Pujara’s sturdy defense yesterday. He again repeated that in English by saying, “Everyone is not Pujara, Boys.” Probably, first, he was unaware of the fact that Khawaja understands Hindi as well and then translated it to English to make sure his point got through. Anyway, it added some fun to the series that has been all dull on the verbal front considering India-Australia standards.
