What goes around comes around, twice as hard sometimes and that’s something that Joe Root must have experienced at Edgbaston thanks to some brilliant fielding by Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper showed why he’s so deadly in the field as a stunning throw got Root run-out in epic fashion.

The Indian cricket team could not have asked for a better start to the first Test at Edgbaston, as a new-look Ravichandran Ashwin wrecked havoc in the English batting line-up and picked up four wickets on the first day. The hosts ended the day with 285/9 as Virat Kohli & Co. put in a stunning all-round performance in the final session as far was bowling and fielding was concerned.

But one incident in particular that caught everyone's attention was the dismissal of England skipper Joe Root. The ‘Mic Drop’ celebration that Root was caught mimicking on live camera in the last ODI win against India came back to haunt the English batsman as some brilliant work in the field by his Indian counterpart, Virat Kohli, changed the tide of the game in the visitor’s favour.

Almost out of nowhere, the Indian skipper produced a stunning run-out which got India the crucial wicket of Root who looked to be in good touch. England were looking to steal a couple runs in the middle during Ashwin’s deadly spell but Kohli had other plans.

The 29-year displayed his athletic prowess as he dived and then released the throw quickly towards Ashwin’s end, while being off balance. His throw hit the stumps directly and ensured that Root departed for 80 as England struggled at 216/4. Kohli was caught sending flying kisses towards the English skipper after getting him out followed a cheeky taunt over Root’s ‘Mic Drop’ celebration at Leeds last month.
