Afridi, a Pakistani businessman and owner of the Pakistan Super League, visited Anurag Thakur at his residence on Friday to ask for his permission to organize matches between the Indian Premier League teams and the Pakistan Super League teams at neutral venues. Afridi has also presented Thakur a jersey of the PSL team Peshawar Zalmi. He has further revealed that he is already in contact with some of the IPL team owners regarding the matches.

"Such events will help promote peace between the two countries.

"We are in touch with them to play some matches between PSL and IPL teams, but for that we will need the approval of BCCI," Javed Afridi told Pakistani media, reported PTI.

Following the Uri attack earlier this year, Thakur had ruled out the possibility of resumption of cricketing ties between the two nations. In fact, India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a bilateral Test series since 2008. However, Pakistan are eager to resume the ties and have even urged the ICC to pay them compensation for the loss in revenue they have suffered with India failing to fulfill their commitment to play a bilateral series.
