Virat Kohli makes fun of England team opting for DRS despite losing all reviews

Virat Kohli and England team were involved in a hilarious incident on Day 3 after the English side went for the review, despite losing all their chances. Moeen Ali had appealed for a caught behind, thinking the ball had nicked Jayant Yadav’s bat, but umpire Bruce Oxenford denied the appeal.

Despite being reduced to a precarious position of 364/7, India went on to score 451/7 at the end of third day’s play as skipper Virat Kohli paired up with  Jayant Yadav to forge an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs to bail India out of the soup.

During the final session of the day, Jayant Yadav seemed to nick a delivery off Moeen Ali from outside the leg-stump to the safe hands of wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow. But umpire Bruce Oxenford denied the appeal. However, England were sure that there was an edge  and went for a review. Little did they realize that they had lost all their reviews before that.

The incident brought out the hilarious side of the Indian skipper as he broke out in laughter and showed a funny gesture to the England side that they had no reviews left with them.

Later after the end of the day, Root had rued the decision and said, "We were behind the bat and Jos at point heard a big noise. It was one those where the bat was away from his body and couldn't have been anything else. We just thought he has nicked it. Unfortunately, we got it wrong on this occasion. There was a review few games ago which was exactly the same and Has [Haseeb Hameed] said he had definitely hit it. It gets overturned and it looks like a great decision.

"The thing that was confusing was that on the board it said that we had used one right and one wrong in the first set of 80 overs and we had got one wrong in the second. So that may have just thrown us off slightly. It's frustrating that reviews are generally there for the howler and unfortunately, it wasn't to be," rued Root.
